Results for the Summer Data Challenge
The results are in! Find out what was submitted for our housing data competition.
In July, we launched our Summer Data Challenge to open up our data to get more people involved in student housing. We wanted to get people talking about the problems in the market, and what we can do to fix them.
This week we’re announcing the results of the competition, but more importantly publishing the entries to share what our participants have found. We’re very thankful to everyone who has given their time to help us on our journey to solve York’s student housing chaos. That’s also everyone who entered but didn’t submit - we hope you enjoyed the challenge and learnt some new skills.
The Entries
We had three entries, out of 37 people who entered the competition.
Theo Sawdon: “The Student Housing Market in York: Patterns and Pressures” - Winner
Isaac Rhodes - “How to lower rates and affordability in York”
Accuracy note: sometimes prices have been incorrectly divided by the number of people, leading to lower prices than expected.
Michael Coleman - “What are the most important factors for student housing prices in York?”
